How long will it take me to learn to drive?
The DVSA recommend at least 56 hours in car with an instructor PLUS at least 20 hours supervised in your own vehicle (if this is an option for you). Each pupil is unique though, with some requiring more time than this, and some requiring less. Your progress is something we can discuss along the way.
The practical test waiting time is so long, can I book my test in now?
This is a discussion we will need to have together. If I do not believe you are ready, or will not be ready by the time a test is available to you then I will recommend that you wait a little longer until you are ready, and I will refuse you the use of my car for the test; However, I cannot stop you taking a test in your own vehicle, or a vehicle you source from elsewhere.
Should I bring my provisional licence with me each lesson?
Yes, please bring your provisional driving licence with you each and every lesson.
How will I know when I'm ready for my test?
We will know you're test ready when you are able to drive on our lessons, covering all topics and road types, with no intervention from myself. The odd little mistake leading to a minor fault will be acceptable occasionally, you're only human, but we should be able to do entire lessons without making major faults which would exhibit dangerous driving, lead to failures in test scenarios.
I have experience driving with another instructor but they won't take me for test and I feel ready, will you take me?
This is a tricky and frustating situation for you to be in. There is likely a very good reason your instructor is refusing to take you for test and that simply may be that you're not competent enough yet. I certainly won't take you for a test without seeing you drive around Lincoln safely and without assistance, and doing at least a few mock tests with you, which you must pass to a good standard; However, if you are hoping to take your test with me and we aren't able to schedule in the above then the answer will be no.
